Welcome to Forgotten Hwy.
In the 1920s, the US Highway System unified unrelated local roads under one number across the United States, allowing for easier interstate commerce and travel. By the 1960s, they began a slow decent downward in favor of the Interstate Highway System. Forgotten Hwy is dedicated to archiving the most historically interesting and deleted routes across the United States.
We aim to bring the history of our road system - arguably the basis for 20th Century Americana - to the masses.
